The Libero's Journey: Part 1
Hey Libero!
This is a friendly reminder that you're not alone on your libero journey...
Whether you're already locked in as the starting libero or if you're just playing one rotation as a DS, there's someone else out there who's been in your shoes!
It may feel isolating at times, but there are so many other liberos out there who have your back, can help you through these situations, and also want to help push you to the next level.
Which is why I want to share a bit more about what one of our Libero Academy members went through the past several months...
Landon is one of those athletes who was in a great position with his team, but then lost a bit of playing time after a short period of inconsistency.
I remember him saying he felt "stuck" with his platform because he was still tracking a majority of serves directly to his midline.
And then he started to question what he was doing and also felt a bit of that self-doubt start to creep into his thoughts before he would pass against tough float serves.
So how did Landon respond?

He started working on opening up and committing to taking more float serves outside his body in the "sweet spot."
We worked on tracking, using the split step, and opening up against different kinds of float serves.
And now Landon is even taking up 2/3 of the court in most rotations for his team...
"I created more intent in opening up by committing every practice to my serve receive, choosing a side, and just opening up."
"I also did progression drills with just easy balls at first to ensure my footwork and opening up was good"
As you can see from the clips, Landon is playing with a ton of confidence and he's even now spreading this confidence to his teammates by locking down the reception line.
But he also has been working on these concepts for several months...
He first learned the concepts, then he started building the technical foundations using our drills within the academy, and now he's playing with total confidence as the best version of himself.
Plus, he came to one of our in person clinics and has been super active inside The Libero Academy whenever he has a question.
Regardless of how long you've been playing the position, it can take a few weeks of focused work for you to feel more confident and start playing at a whole new level.

You no longer have to go through this process by yourself or just hope it will be a good passing day when you get to the gym.
We will build a framework specific to you, your goals, and where you want to be this season.
Time to dominate in 2025...
Let's get to work!
